Pop Shuvit
Having played in Thailand, Japan and Singapore, Pop Shuvit are known as one of the leading hip-hop rock bands in the region. Their adrenalin-packed, high energy live shows and anthemic tracks have earned them fans from all around the globe since they burst onto the Malaysian scene back in 2001. Their debut album, Take it & Shuvit, broke new ground when their first single, Skaters’ Anthem, was released exclusively on the Internet and became one of the most downloaded local songs in Malaysian music history. The hype attracted ESPN, who licensed the track for use in their Summer X-Games broadcast, which hit millions of households worldwide. In 2003, Pop Shuvit released Take it & Shuvit in Japan and became the first Malaysian band to hit the music chart there. Overwhelming support from the Japanese youth market ensured that all tracks from the album charted on the Tower Records Top 20 sales charts (even beating rap-rock luminaries like Linkin Park) without any album promotion! Their success led Pop Shuvit to tour Japan in 2005 to support their sophomore release, Here & Now, and their tour soon became one of the most successful and talked-about headlining tours of any Malaysian rock band. 2006 saw the release of their latest album, Amped & Dangerous, proving that the boys still have what it takes to rock stadiums and put Malaysia on the international music map.
